Over the last couple of years, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport has actually invited some regional AvGeeks, who enjoy sharing their airline company enthusiasm online, to a special celebration. Most of us meet up airside and get a rundown of the day, undergo protection, then pile right into a few vans and head out to the landing field, all under escort from airport ops. That component alone is quite enjoyable and enjoyable, but it gets better from there.
INCENTIVE: Our SEA AvGeeks Landing Strip Day Photos from 2003
We got to invest a little bit over 4 hours between paths 16 L/ 34 R and 16 C/ 34 C, and it was outstanding. I just brought my iPhone to share pictures on our social networks , yet luckily our Francis Zera was there also; he takes way much better photos than me. It is simply a totally various experience to be so near to the aircraft when they taxi, launch, and land.
It felt like you might reach out and touch the winglets of the vast bodies as they cabbed by (I really did not attempt). We did obtain several baffled looks by trip crew, complied with by several smiles and waves. Obviously the continuous joke throughout the day (a minimum of it was funny to me) was calling out when an Alaska Boeing 737 or Embraer E- 175 was removing– there were great deals and lots of those!
Out of all the airplanes seen that day, the one that delighted me the most was the FedEx MD- 11 Such a timeless. Such a charm! The secondly was an Alaska Air E- 175 (allow me complete …) with the unique Horizon Air livery. As an’ 80 s kid, it restored memories of flying on Perspective’s Dash- 8 – 100 s , Metroliners , Fokker F 27 s , and Fokker F 28 s
This year for sure did not dissatisfy. Look into all the extra pictures listed below!
